Weekend Programme

Print this information

You can arrive anytime on the Friday (the hotel will store your luggage if needed) but your rooms are not usually ready until early afternoon. Because of the locations of the hotels, many members spend Friday either shopping or sightseeing.

The weekends are booked on a "full-board" basis. See venues for individual details to familiarise yourself with their facilities. Each hotel has a different mix of rooms, some have triples, but mostly we use twin rooms. Singles are available for a small supplement but as they are limited they are sold on a "first come" basis. All accommodation is en-suite.

We start the weekend's activities with Friday evening dinner, then dance with a 'live' Ceilidh or Folk dance band complete with caller. This type of dance is great fun, and allows us all to meet up with each other, the perfect start to the weekend.

After breakfast on Saturday we start our programme of classes. You will receive a letter with the programme and final details, two or three weeks before each weekend. This gives you the chance to pre-plan and choose what you want to do before you arrive. Whilst some members do partake of every available class, many use the weekends to socialise and relax with other League members. We break for morning coffee and have a buffet lunch. More classes on offer in the afternoon (with a break for tea).

After dinner on Saturday there is a social evening with party games or a 'live' cabaret, party dances or 'disco'. On Sunday more classes and the weekend finishes with a Roast Lunch.

It is possible to extend your stay, some members enjoy adding extra days onto their weekend. Members travelling by public transport often find Sunday travel quite difficult, so choose to stay until Monday. Details of extra nights and other relevant information is sent to everyone booked in three months before your weekend.
